Bicycle Racing Team in Austin, Lakeway, Round Rock and Cedar Park and Surrounding Areas
Recreation departments all over the nation constantly try to create new activities for their communities' youth. The Austin Parks and Recreation has discovered a new way to keep our youth active and at the same time teach them teamwork, leadership, communication and respect for themselves and others.
To date, this program has entered over a dozen youth in over a dozen State Championship level races. This team has participated in trail maintenance days to conserve the environment and organized departmental biking contests. Everyone involved with this project, from the youth to the volunteers, are deeply committed to the program and have seen amazing progress in the young cyclists.
The common theme that is taught to the kids is to never quit. All of the riders have finished every race, some through grueling conditions. We know this mental and physical toughness will carry through to their everyday lives.
