The Senior Activity Center in Austin, Lakeway, Round Rock and Cedar Park and Surrounding Areas

The Senior Activity Center , opened its' doors to the public in 1978 as the first Senior Center of its kind in the City of Austin . Located at the southeast corner of 29th Street and N. Lamar, in the heart of Austin and a short distance from the University of Texas, the center functions as a total community, special use resource facility and provides an optimum environment for the development of sound physical and mental health for person 50 years and older.

The center offers instructed classes, health and wellness programs, educational seminars workshops, trips, dances, volunteer opportunities, support groups, special events, meeting space and private rental space.

The primary purpose of the center is to provide meaningful activity within the widest range of civic, cultural and recreational activities. The secondary purpose is to provide meeting space through a regularly schedueld or special request reservation for senior adult organizations or groups.

Registration: Participant registration is required whether participating in daytime or evening activities.


Activities/Organizations: Oil Painting, Bridge, Scrabble, Line Dancing, Duplicate Bridge, Mexican Train, Exercise, Golden Rule Dance Club, 55 Alive, Golden K Kiwanis club, Banjo Club, Golf, Oil/Acrylics, Palette Club, Photography Class, Senior AA Group, Drawing/Painting, Machine Knit, Widowed Persons of Austin, Singing Noteables, Municipal Art Guild, Pinochle, Needlepoint, Line Dance Class, Fifty Plus Singles Dance Club, "84", Ceramics, AAUW Bridge Class, Poetry Group, Seniorcise, "42", Watercolor, Mah Jong, Let's Dance and more. Contact the Center for specific days and times.

Trips: A variety of trips around Austin and Central Texas are offered throughout the year. Participants are required to be registered members of the Senior Activity Center and register in person. Contact the Center for a listing of available trip info rmation and registration procedures.
