Morrris Williams Golf Course was constructed in 1963 and opened in 1964 as Austin 's 3rd Municipal Course. Designed by Leon Howard, one of the most prolific golf course Architects of the time, the course features small, slightly elevated, contoured greens. These features combined with the rolling terrain probably make Morris Williams Golf Course the most difficult of all of the City's courses. However, the recent addition of ladies tees and the improved turf make the course playable for all levels of golfers.

Morris Williams Golf Course was named after Morris Williams Jr., potentially the best golfer ever developed in Austin . He won every trophy available to him from the Austin area, as well as, the Texas Junior Championships to the National Air Force Trophy now named in his honor. He lost his life as a young man during the Korean war in a Florida jet plane crash.

Morris Williams served for many years as the home of the University of Texas golf teams under legendary coaches Harvey Penick and George Hannon. During this time the Univeristy won 2 NCAA Championships with teams that featured Tom Kite and Ben Crenshaw.
Practice facilities include a driving range and putting greens.
