Golf in Austin, Lakeway, Round Rock and Cedar Park and Surrounding Areas
What has enticed you to partake in the game of golf? Is it the lustrous tree lined fairways, luxurious country clubs, or the relaxing atmosphere of playing a round with either some of your closest friends or business associates? For some golfing can be overpowering which can cause them to steer clear of the game, while others so obsessed would not dare miss their tee times.
If you are new to golf and do not want to seem like it on the green, here are a few tips on starting out. As with all games there are always rules one must abide by and other Online Golf Tips.
Austin Price Check! Austin has a wide array of courses for all kinds of play! Practice your swing at one of Austin's Par 3 courses for about $8. Try out one of Austin's municipal courses for between $10-$30, a public course for $35-$65 depending on the course, or play at a semi private course for approximately $49-$75.
Here is a review of basic golf etiquette:
Always be aware of your surroundings and the “clubs” in the area. Whether you or people around you are carrying or swinging their clubs this can prove to be a very dangerous situation if someone is caught of guard.
If your ball seems to be going in the direction of another group in front of you yell out “Fore!” to give them fair warning.
Always drive carefully, keep off grass and obey all posted rules and warning signs. Out of courtesy to the course, repair all turf torn up by a golf club during the striking of a ball.
Austin Money Savers Tip Keep in mind that although the municipal golf courses in Austin have more affordable fees to play golf, they all have additional fees to rent a cart. The fees at a public or semi private golf course generally include the cart fee.
When on the green keep up with the group playing ahead of you, if this is not possible allow the next group to follow through. Stay aware of your turn so not to prolong the waiting periods for others. Remove yourself from the green once your group has finished putting.
Throughout the game respect your opponents and stay quiet so maximum concentration is achieved, and no matter how excited you may become if you make that “hole in one” control your enthusiasm.
So now you feel somewhat confident about how to carry yourself on the green, what’s next? Is it time to rush out to your local sporting goods store and purchase the nicest possibly most expensive club set out there? Sorry to say, No, unless you would like to take a big chance not knowing whether you will actually enjoy the game or not. The first thing you need to do is invest in some educational material. Well, now your thinking, why can’t I just tell you everything, right here and now. Sadly, that won’t work. You are not about to learn all aspects of a sophisticated and technically challenging game as golf by reading a short article. Therefore, in order to know what your talking about once you get yourself to the country club, I suggest taking a few lessons. If you want to know if golfing is for you, head to your local driving range buy a large bucket of balls (that’s around 100-150 balls) and let her rip! If after a few swings you don’t feel absolutely exhilarated, this sport may not be for you. Well, if you’re still unsure after your bucket is empty? You may want to invest in a few classes, because it may just turn into your first love. Many people experience a somewhat unexplainable, invigorating feeling after gripping that club just right and swinging the ball down the range over a hundred yards. So do yourself a favor and invest your time researching or taking a few lessons before committing to this sport. For most there is really no doubt they will truly enjoy this game, but for some, they just can’t grasp the concept. I hope you will find golfing something to be enjoyed as one of your future pastimes.
