Did you know? The Austin Parks and Recreation Department offer a wide variety of sports and fitness programs for all ages. From adult team sports, youth sports, biking, hiking, water sports and more.

  • Youth sports programs including soccer, baseball, basketball, flag-football and cheerleading are held at the majority of the Recreation Centers call the closest center to your home or work for info rmation.
  • Additional youth sports programs are offered throughout the city by many youth sports organizations. These programs are supported by the City of Austin and provide baseball, softball, football, soccer, cheerleading and kickball programs.
  • The Athletics adult men's, women's and co-rec softball, adult men's basketball and adult men's flag football leagues, tournaments and special events.
  • Fitness classes are offered at many of the area Recreation Centers. Classes include aerobics, low-impact aerobics and Jazzercise.
  • Many enjoying biking, walking or running on the miles of hike and bike trails around Austin .
  • McBeth Recreation Center offers opportunities for athletes that use wheelchairs to participate in sports with their peers. The track team works out weekly and competes in local races throughout the year.
  • Tennis programs are offered at 3 tennis centers and courts are in parks throughout the city.
  • The Department operates and maintains 6 public golf courses.
  • Our aquatics section offers swim lessons for all ages, a swim team program for children and adults, diving lessons and designated lap swimming at area pools.
