Austin Personnel Recruiters and Services They Provide

Personnel recruiters search for and screen promising job applicants. Personnel recruiters work in human resource departments. Their job is to recruit and screen prospective employees. They maintain contacts in the community to inform the public about possible jobs. They speak to civic and social groups about careers in their organization. Recruiters also travel to find job applicants. For example, they arrange and schedule visits to college campuses. There they screen and interview applicants. Some recruiters also test applicants and score the results. These tests help them screen and select applicants.

Be prepared! Many Austin employment recruiting and temporary staffing agencies do not want you to just "drop in." They ask that you first fill out an application online and when received, you could be asked to come in for a general interview and skill assessment.

Recruiters review applicants' resumes and other paperwork. They evaluate their qualifications and check references. For some jobs, they may run background checks. Some recruiters extend job offers. Others make recommendations, and then refer applicants to staff who make the hiring decisions.

Recruiters must be very familiar with the company and its policies. They must be able to discuss wages, benefits, and working conditions. They must also be able to talk about promotion options. In addition, recruiters must stay informed of equal employment opportunity (EEO) laws. They must know about affirmative action guidelines in their firm. These rules are very important in the hiring process.

Did you know? There are recruiting and staffing agencies in Austin that specialize in certain fields. For instance, if you are interested in a job in the biotech industry, you should focus on agencies that deal specifically with placements in that sector.

In the office, personnel recruiters keep employment records current. They project the expenses needed for recruitment. They may complete paperwork to hire applicants. From time to time, they evaluate the firm's selection policies to be sure they meet standards. They may also assist managers in carrying out programs to help retain employees.

Personnel Recruiters perform the following activities on a frequent basis:

  • Maintain contacts in the community. Speak to groups about jobs and career possibilities.
